Building Green and Sustainable Internet

This sub-theme is aimed at implementing environmentally friendly best practices and technologies to reduce the fossil fuel-based energy consumption of digital infrastructure. Some of the strategies may be transitioning to renewable energy sources, developing energy efficient hardware, Data centre optimisation, circular economy, Green Data practices, collaboration and advocacy.  Further, digital technologies can be used for the common good such as climate protection, food, and water conservation, or achieving environmental aspects of Sustainable Development Goals etc.

Sustainability in Tech Innovation: Explore the intersection of technology and sustainability, focusing on understanding and measuring the environmental impact of internet technologies and innovations, further development of proposals for innovations in renewable energy for data centres, eco-friendly data storage solutions, development of green internet protocols and standards, energy-efficient hardware & software, and sustainable infrastructure development.

Minimising E-waste: Discuss strategies to minimise e-waste through responsible hardware life cycles, promoting responsible e-waste management, material reuse, and extending hardware lifespans through design and maintenance.
